MagicBands (formerly called Disney Bands) are a high-tech way to unlock and simplify many aspects of your vacation. They can be used for room key, park entry, and to charge purchases.
Guests can purchase and customize their MagicBands pre-arrival online or at several merchandise locations throughout the parks and Disney Springs. These locations include:
Once Upon a Toy Store
The Marketplace Co-op at Disney Springs is the place to go for all things MagicBand. From simple lanyard medals to full-body vinyl wraps, you can pick up all the extra bling to complete your look.
In addition to the usual branded bands, there are also a bunch of new Limited Edition options. From Frozen 2 designs to a millennial pink version of Star Wars, there’s something for everyone.
Another great thing about these wristbands is that they’re not tied to a specific hotel or resort. That means you can buy a set of bands before you leave home and use them throughout your stay!
In fact, you can even link a MagicBand to your My Disney Experience account before you leave for your vacation. This will make it easier to check-in to your room, charge items and link PhotoPass photos without having to do all of that while on vacation. That’s a big time-saver! And it’s a super fun way to add some Disney magic to your vacation!
Disney Pin Traders
Disney pin trading is an activity that is available all around the Disney parks. It is a great way to have fun and get small souvenirs while you are on vacation!
Originally started during the Millennium Celebration in 1999, Disney pin trading has spread to many other Disney locations like Disneyland Resort, Aulani and Disney cruises. It is a hobby that has grown into a cult following of dedicated traders.
You can find these pins in merchandise shops in all four Disney World parks, at Disney Springs and the resort hotels. Most of these stores have a pin board that you can trade on.
Some of these pins are more valuable than others so be aware of what you’re looking for before you start trading. For example, if you’re trading for a limited-edition pin from a holiday or event that happened years ago, it might be harder to find again than if you were trading for a more common one.
World of Disney
There are many ways to get your hands on Magic Bands at Disney Springs, but it’s important to note that these bands are not free and will cost you a few dollars. These bands are similar in size to FitBits and contain a small radio frequency chip which lets you tap the Mickey symbol on the band to a receiver at a turnstile, restaurant checkout register or hotel room door.
The bands are also compatible with the new Magic Band Plus which allows guests to have super cool interactive elements when scanned at special touchpoints like character statues in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge or Toy Story Land.
The bands can be purchased in the Magic Kingdom Emporium, the Marketplace Co-Op and the D-Tech on Demand boutique in Disney Springs. These locations offer multiple base colors and dozens of designs to choose from.
D-Tech on Demand
D-Tech on Demand is a boutique store that allows Disney Parks guests to customize their electronic devices. Similar to the cell phone case kiosks you’ll find at a mall, D-Tech on Demand offers custom designs that aren’t available in retail stores, making it a great place to pick up a unique MagicBand.
MagicBands are a great way to access the parks. With them, you can enter theme and water parks with a valid Park ticket, check in at Lightning Lane and virtual queue entrances, connect your Disney PhotoPass images, unlock your Resort door with the room key function, charge food and merchandise purchases to your room account, and more!
Disney’s MagicBand 2.0 has a removable center disc/puck, which gives you tons of customization options. There are paint, nail polish, vinyl cutout designs, temporary tattoos, rhinestones, and more, so you can make your band as personalized as you want!
